Welcome to Kentucky’s First Green House Community!

The Homeplace at Midway is proud to be Kentucky’s first and only Green House community built in partnership with The Green House® Project, offering the best in forward-thinking eldercare.

Green House homes are small in scale, self-contained, and self-sufficient, with elders at the center. Each home includes private rooms and bathrooms for all elders, a living room with a fireplace, and outdoor spaces that are easy to access and navigate.

At the Homeplace at Midway, we capture the essence of a real home, meaningful life, and fulfilled staff. Our cottages are designed to look and feel just like home, complete with all the personalized comforts that foster security, companionship and freedom. The quality of care received at a Green House community is both proven and practical, with over a decade of evidence supporting the difference a Green House home can offer.

Our community includes four cozy cottages nestled in abundant greenspace with beautiful landscaping, walking paths and gardens. Each cottage is home to twelve elders. Elders enjoy the privacy of their own bedroom and bathroom, and other areas of the cottage are shared just like home. The living room and hearth, dining room and kitchen are the heart of the cottage. Elders, family and staff can enjoy each other’s company, participate in activities, and gather for a fresh family-style meal.

Dining

Our meals are prepared fresh daily and served family style in a dining experience designed to increase elders’ overall happiness, health and well-being. Meals are in important part of our days, and we want to make them a pleasure of our elders. Elders are encouraged to suggest their favorite recipes, and are often found in the cottage kitchen helping to prepare a meal.

Activities

We offer a full calendar of recreational, educational, spiritual, and wellness-focused events and activities. Research shows engagement and activities have the potential to benefit older adults in many ways:

  • Promote emotional connection and self-expression
  • Gain a feeling of accomplishment
  • Maintain motor skills
  • Minimize loneliness and depression

Our Activities Director ensures our elders with different hobbies and interests stay mentally, physically and socially active!
